Lady Jays compete at Hayden

The Lady Jays traveled to Hayden on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to compete against Hayden, Ottawa, Bishop Miege and Topeka High. The day began with three teams competing in two different pools – Blue Pool and White Pool. In the Blue Pool was Sabetha, Ottawa and Hayden Blue. In the White Pool was Bishop Miege, Topeka High and Hayden White.

Seniors Kinsey Menold and Hannah Wertenberger competed in number two doubles. They finished the day with second place — falling only to Topeka High in a match for first place. They defeated the Hayden Blue team and Ottawa.

Senior Deborah Edelman and junior Nicole Stallbaumer competed in the number one doubles bracket. They finished the day in third with a 2-1 record. They defeated Ottawa, and then Hayden White, which gave them there third place win.

Seniors Rachel Kramer and Bree Voos competed in number one singles and number two singles, respectively. They both placed fourth overall, with both finishing the day with 1-2 records.

The Lady Jays will travel to Hillsboro Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, for 3-2-1A Regional competition. The tournament will take place at Hillsboro Sports Complex Courts, 200 Sports Complex Drive.

Other teams competing in this tournament will be Alma-Wabaunsee, Bennington, Hillsboro, Lindsborg-Smoky Valley, Marysville, McPherson-Elyria Christian, Perry-Lecompton, Prairie Village-Kansas City Christian, Rossville, Salina-Sacred Heart and Shawnee-Maranatha Christian Academy.
